Moved to NDA
Professor Kazuo Ouchi left Kochi University of Technology on the 30th of September 2006, and took up a new post in the present department from the 1st of October 2006. Dr.Haipeng Wang was appointed as a lecturer in the Dept. of Communication Science and Engineering, School of Information Science and Engineering, Fudan University, Shanghai, China. The Ouchi laboratory at Kochi University of Technology is closed.

WSANE 2006
Workshop for Space, Aeronautical and NavigationalElectronics (WSANE) 2006 of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) was held on 10-12, April 2006 at the Xi'dian University(Xi'dan University,http://202.117.112.33/EN/index.htm）), Xi'an, China. From our group, Prof. K.Ouchi and Mr. Haipeng Wang presented two papers. Xi'an is known as the capital (north-west of Xi'an) of the Qin dynasty when Qin Shihuang, the first Emperor of China, unified the whole China for the first time over 2000 yearsago, and in the north-west of Xi'an, there are the tomb of Quin Shihuang, and the terra-cotta warriors and horses famed as the "8th Wonder of the World". SAR Workshop 2006 in Sendai
The annual workshop on the methodology and applications of synthetic aperture radar was held on 1, Febrary 2006 at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan. From our group, Mr. Haipeng Wang, (D3) presented a paper.

Symposium on Real Time Disaster Observation Using SAR Data
The symposium was organized by the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED) and held at Kochi University of Technology on 16 March 2006, inviting researchers from Finland and China. From our group Professor Kazuo Ouchi presented a paperdescring the SAR research activity in KUT.

International Workshop on Modelling and Data Analysis in Environmentrics, Geostatistics and Related Areas
The workshop was held at Kyushu University on 17-18 November 2005 on the statistics and remote sensing. The 5 world-leading foreign scientists and 6 Japanese scientists were invited to present and exchangethe recent work, and to discuss the future collaboration. The 27th RESES
The 27th Symposium on Remote Sensing for Environmental Sciences (RESES) was held on 27-29, August 2005 at the ShonanInternational Village, Hayama, Kanagawa, Japan. Among 14 papers, Professor Kazuo Ouchi presented a paper on a statistical method for estimating forest biomass from high-resolution polarimetric SAR.

Technical Committee on Space, Aeronautical and Navigational Electronics(SANE) was held on 27, May 2005 at Kochi University of Technology, Kochi, Japan. The invited paper was presented by professor Tomonao Hayashi, Chiba Institute of Technology (also Emeritus professor of Tokyo University) on "Whale ecology observation satellite (WEOS) system".
